The Process

New Memorials

Choose the memorial and let us know the wording you would like.

A scale proof and quote will be created.

Place your order.

We will make the arrangements to obtain council or vicar approval.
Pay 50% deposit.

The stone will be ordered (delivery about 4 months*).

Work completed and memorial fitted.

Pay final amount.

*Please note a memorial stone marking a full burial cannot be placed until at least 6 months has passed from the burial date. There are no time constraints for a memorial to mark an ashes grave. We carry a number of granite ashes tablets suitable for churchyards in stock so it should be possible to have these completed in a few weeks

Additional Inscriptions

Let us know the wording you would like added.

The existing memorial will be measured and a scale proof and quote created.

Place your order.

We will arrange to receive council or vicar approval.

Work completed and memorial fitted*.

Pay the full amount.

*Please note a memorial stone marking a full burial cannot be placed until at least 6 months has passed from the burial date. There are no time constraints for a memorial to mark an ashes grave, so it may be possible to have the work completed and ready for the interment.

Choosing a Memorial

When choosing a memorial there are a number of things to consider, such as:

  • Where is the memorial to be located (Churchyard or Cemetery)
  • Shape of the memorial
  • Base or no base
  • Flower holder
  • Surface finish
  • Stone type

Rounded Headstone

Square Base with Vase

Oval with shoulders

Base Shape

Granite

Nabresina

York Stone

STone Types

There are many different types of stone that can be used, in churchyards there usually are some restrictions but cemeteries you can choose from a number of different colours. The stones will weather in different ways and we can advise you on which will work the best for your requirements.

Inscriptions

New inscriptions are difficult to decide on, often it is best to keep it simple, sometimes you will have limited space. If you are not sure we can put together an example on the scale proof which will help you visualise it, and allow you to discuss with family to confirm what you do or don’t want to say.

You will also have choices of lettering type and we will be able to advise you on the best options.

With additional insciptions it is easier – normally we would follow the same format that has been used before.

Ornamentation

Adding a design or detailing to your chosen memorial is a good way to make it stand out. It can be as simple as a moulded edge or simple image or a beautifully carved design or a hand painted picture.

Monogram

Blackberries in Relief

Etched and painted Kingfisher

Refurbishment

Unfortunately over time the memorials can deteriorate. Country Memorials can offer a full refurbishment service whether just an onsite clean or remove the memorial back to our workshop and give it a complete “make over”.

Installation

Generally, if we have provided a quote to supply a memorial it will include installation. As qualified memorial fixers if you already have a memorial, as long as it has the relevant approval, we will be able to fit it for you.

We are on the Register of Qualified Memorial Fixers which means we fit memorials to NAMM standards.
